It would seem that the Book of Dead has a little in common with the Book of Ra, as like on Novomatic’s game, the one book symbol serves as both a wild and a scatter at the same time. That means that it will fill in for any symbol on the game and also trigger some free spins if you are lucky enough to land a trio of them.
As noted, you’ll need three Book of Dead symbols in view at the same time to trigger the feature, and you’ll almost always get off to a decent start as part of the round simply because three or more wilds in view will almost always lead to a win to kick things off. You can continue to milk the Book of Dead for all its worth during the bonus feature as it will not only continue to serve as a wild card, but will also add ten more free spins if you land three or more. What stands out about this round is that one symbol is chosen prior to the spins commencing to serve as an expanding symbol. If it leads to a winning combination, that symbol will expand every time it lands on the board and while there are better ways to make use of expanding symbols than with ten win lines, it is most definitely better than nothing.
We can’t really tell whether Book of Dead is a tribute to Book of Ra or a complete rip-off, but either way there is no question that Play’n Go has decided to take inspiration from one of the best slots ever made and has done a good job of putting out something entertaining.
