Karaoke Party Microgaming Slot
It is pretty fair to say that Microgaming hasn’t gone out of its way to create some of the better games out there right now this year and we were a little on edge when we saw that their new release for August was to be another clone of an existing game. On the one hand, the game in question is Thunderstruck and that is one of the most played games of all time. On the other, it all feels a little lazy and we have to wonder why we would play Karaoke Party instead of Thunderstruck given the choice. Fortunately, we’ve given it the review treatment just like every other title here at Games Mania and we’ll sum it all up at the end regarding whether you should be playing this one or not.
Nine Lines Over Packed Reels
One of the main issues with any developer that chooses to effectively re-release a game as old as Thunderstruck is that the game may feel a little dated. Most of us have moved on from the concept of the nine lines offered on this title, although we’re sure there will be some players out there that love it as much today as they ever did. It is not necessarily our cup of tea, but we don’t have too many complaints as it is a classic after all. Those nine lines are used to line up a combination of playing card icons and some admittedly good looking themed symbols, and the Karaoke Party logo is on hand as always to serve as the wild card. As you’ll be well aware if you’ve ever played Thunderstruck, it is not only wild but it can also apply a two times multiplier to any prize amount that it forms part of.
Free Spins and Gambles
Again, the features on Karaoke Party are identical to those that are to be found on Thunderstruck and so that means three or more scatters will award free spins. The scatter itself contains five dice, so we’re not sure whether this party is taking place in a casino for some reason, but either way it will lead to fifteen spins being awarded. More spins can also be won during the round itself by landing another set of three or more dice scatters.
There’s even the good old fashioned gamble game in effect on this slot, with every win causing the ‘gamble’ button to spring into life. This sees players being able to either double or quadruple their prize on the turn of a card and there are up to five chances to keep your streak alive.
So, would we play Karaoke Party instead of Thunderstruck? Probably not, although we would be more likely to play Thunderstruck 2 with its 243 ways to win and enhanced features anyway. Nevertheless, this game represents the chance to enjoy classic gameplay with a brand new theme and if that sounds good to you, you can check out what it has to offer with no deposit at the top of this review or for real cash at one of our most highly recommended Microgaming partner casinos.
