Super Heroes by Yggdrasil

Superheroes are not only dominating the box office nowadays, but have also made quite the mark when it comes to online slots too. Microgaming offered games based on the Dark Knight franchise – which has since been discontinued – and Playtech’s Marvel slots are the stuff of legend. More recently, NextGen has rebooted Cryptologic’s old DC Comics series and we have to admit that there aren’t many popular licenses that are yet to be touched. Fortunately, that hasn’t bothered Yggdrasil Gaming in the slightest and they have opted to go all Stan Lee on us and create some characters of their own. They may lack the familiarity of some of the bigger names, but they are every bit as powerful and, crucially, their various powers all just so happen to enhance the game board.

Twenty Lines and a Heroic Base Game Bonus

Getting into the action is by no means difficult, as the developer has stuck with the same number of win lines that can generally be expected – they come in at twenty if you’re unfamiliar with them. The base game plays out just as you would expect, racking up wins that often come with the assistance of the blazing wild card.

Funnily enough, the main game’s symbols are actually villains rather than Super Heroes, but the good news is that they are never far away and they will make their presence known at random as the game plays out. As noted, their powers are generally good for the game and they start off with Mirage, who will transform all of the higher value symbols on the board into dice, which will then roll and land mystery wins. Raven can enter the board and will turn up to four entire reels wild, while Hopper will work with individual symbols, turning up to five of them into additional wild cards.

When Tesla enters the field, up to five symbols will be turned into matching ones and he does at least work in the player’s favour as those symbol transformations are guaranteed to lead to a win. Knox will multiply wins already on the board by up to five times and Trance will only appear during the free spins bonus round, and will add up to four more spins to the remaining total.

Super Heroes Free Spins

The heroes themselves do appear often, but we have to admit that the biggest wins on the game are reserved for the free spins bonus round – and that is due to a couple of reasons. To start things off, players will be looking for three, four or five scatters in view to trigger four, five or seven free spins respectively. A superhero is guaranteed to get involved on every spin and when they do appear, they will increase their power level by one. Essentially, all of the features covered above become slightly better and there are four levels available. On Mirage’s coin wins for example, the prizes range between five and a thousand times the bet at level one, but that range closes to between twenty and a thousand coins at the higher levels. You can of course hope to reach the higher levels as many times as possible if you see Trance and her additional spins on a regular basis.

We’re used to superhero slots being very good games and Super Heroes from Yggdrasil certainly doesn’t disappoint. You’ll quickly become familiar with the characters and their abilities and it all works out very well. Check out what they all have to offer by playing the full game above, or check out the real money version of the game over at any of the casinos featured in the sidebar.
