Vikings Go Wild by Yggdrasil
We still consider Jokerizer to be the most popular Yggdrasil slot game in the UK right now, but if we had to choose one game that comes close to matching up to that popularity, Vikings Go Wild would be the one. Indeed, if you’re not into fruit machine action then this could well have been the game that put the developer on the map for you and it was even the game that served as the inspiration for Yggdrasil’s Euro 2016 entry in Bicicleta. So, you can probably already tell that there is a lot to enjoy about this game, so let’s see what it has to offer!
25 Lines Over an Extended Board
Vikings Go Wild makes use of four rows of symbols in the base game, although the number of win lines has not been increased too much from the standard twenty – with players instead looking to line up their wins over just 25 of them. The Vikings themselves are the starring characters and the most valuable symbols on the game, and various coins of varying values have been chosen to supplement them as the lower value symbols on the game. There is a wild card too, and it can be used to fill in for any of these symbols, with only the game’s main scatter symbol being out of reach.
Vikings Go Wild Free Spins
That scatter symbol is suitably depicted by the longboat and you’ll be looking to build up as big a fleet as possible to win big here. Specifically, more scatters make for more free spins, with three, four or five in view leading to the award of eight, sixteen or 24 free games. When a character symbol lands on the board during free games, he or she will immediately be attacked by the kraken. The Vikings don’t actually stand much of a chance, but on the rare occasions that they successfully fend off the attack, they will celebrate by hanging around in their current position as a sticky wild for the rest of the round.
The treasure chest is also an important symbol on this game and you’ll be looking to land it on the fifth reel in order for it to have any kind of impact. If it lands there during the base game, players will either pick up an instant prize of up to 1,000 coins or between eight and twelve free games. If it lands during the free spins round itself players will again have a chance at up to 1,000 coins, will add between two and four free games to their remaining total or will trigger a wild reel that will remain that way for the rest of the round.
Yggdrasil is a relatively young developer but Vikings Go Wild is about as close to a legendary slot game that the company has right now – and with good reason. It is lots of fun to play and there are plenty of chances to pick up massive wins too and that sounds like a recipe for quality to us.
